Born in Montego Bay Jamaica, Janet
Lewis migrated to the U.S.A in 1991. She joined the
Direct Messengers band as a backup vocalist and was
privileged to be a part of their second CD release
entitled, "My Jesus Is Coming". She stayed
with the group performing at various engagements
such as concerts, banquets and churches, which gave
her a chance to develop her own music ministry.
With her unique style and passion for
the love of music she soon found herself doing
background vocals for such major artists as
Joseph Niles, Marlon' Bro. Paul' Anderson and
Hopeton Lewis. Janet is a member of the Church
Avenue Church of God of Prophecy, in Brooklyn, NY
where her pastor is Bishop Carlton J. Walters.
She is the proud mother of a boy and
girl, namely Jonathan and Tiffany, and is very
active in her local church ministry, where she makes
herself available to be a part of different programs
as much as she is able to.
She gives God the glory and praise
for the wisdom, knowledge and understanding that
enables her to minister the word, which she delivers
through music. She has three CD's to her credit
namely "GIVE HIM ALL", HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU
 and
Till the
Night turns to Day which were
released in 2001, 2004 and 2006
respectively.
In 2005 & 2006, she was presented
with the Best New Voice and Female Solo Artist of
the Year from the Caribbean Gospel Awards Show
hosted by Gil Bailey. She also received Most
Improved and Top Caribbean Gospel performers from
Caribbean International Gospel Awards hosted by
Hopeton Lewis.
To date, She has performed with
various gospel artistes including
Claudelle Clarke, Candi Staton, The Grace Thrillers,
Otis Wright, Alvin Slaughter, Junior Tucker, Gerry
Thompson, Hopeton Lewis, George Banton, Christine
Sinclair, Joan Myers,
Marlon'
Bro. Paul' Anderson and Bridget Blucher,
to name a few.
Her relatively young ministry is aided by Marlon
"Bro. Paul" Anderson who she credits has being the
one to see a gift in her that she did not recognize
at first. She maintains that through all her
experiences, good and bad, God has been the one
constant presence. Janet has a passion for young
people and stresses that each one of us, not unlike
a young person, is still a work in progress as we
all have yet to gain perfection. Her
greatest wish is to be an example as
to what you can be when you give God your all.
